The African Social Marketing Association (AfSMA) launched its first “Introduction to Social Marketing” webinar in December 2024 at Cairo University in Egypt. The webinar was titled “Leveraging Social Marketing for Sustainable Solutions: Tackling Community and Environmental Challenges”. Prof. Abeer Mahrous, Vice Dean at the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University, welcomed the presenters and audience of 80 attendees; marketing professors and PhD students. Dr Lina Khattab moderated the webinar, while Menna Kamel, Victoria Mwangi, Chabala Kawesha and Prof Debbie Ellis, from AfSMA presented.  This initiative is part of AfSMA’s Course Development Committee’s activities to increase the number of social marketing course offerings and research projects in Africa, build capacity and skills for social marketing and social change in Africa, as well as promote the use of social marketing as an approach to social change in Africa.
